Product Development Engineer - Medical Devices

Micro C Imaging is a dynamic medical technology start up that is revolutionizing medical imaging with its digital X-ray and multi-modal camera.  Invented by an experienced orthopedic surgeon, The Micro C™ is a groundbreaking medical imaging solution designed for surgeons and physicians treating disorders of the extremities that combines a compact, handheld X-ray and digital camera.

What do we need?

We are looking for a Product Engineer/Developer who will work with our team to develop software solutions for medical X-ray imaging and other hardware products. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible with excellent engineering, communication and reasoning skills.

What is involved?

Documentation Tasks:

  • Generates and provides oversight of technical software documentation
  • Develops detailed system and software requirements documentation
  • Develops detailed design documentation for implementations
  • Provides system level software architecture review, consulting, and advises on tool selection and configuration
  • Participates in code reviews utilizing pull requests, workflow tools, and static analysis
  • Sprint planning, backlog grooming and task estimation

Design/Development Tasks:

  • Digests existing code base and software/hardware ecosystem
  • Develops and performs verification and validation of system and software
  • Supports development of C++ modules for system integration
  • Hardware support for software development and testing
  • Collaborates with hardware team members to harmonize and streamline development

What do we need from you?

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field required
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Required experience: C++, Linux, automated unit testing, hardware-software integration
  • Bonus: Java, OpenCV, subsystem mocks, continuous integration, configuration management, embedded systems, medical imaging, x-ray physics, software verification and validation
  • Experience in a highly-regulated industry is a plus
  • Experience with detailed, disciplined software documentation (including proper code commenting, software requirements, software design documents, fault analysis, software test protocols) is a plus
  • Exposure to Java, medical hardware and/or software design would be a plus.
  • Compliance experience (IEC/ISO 62304/14972/60601) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to excel in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
